This morning I downloaded an mp3 recording of an interview Webmaster radio presenter Shoey had with the legend of pro blogging, Melbourne boy, Darren Rowse. The interview was eye opening to say the least, but it was his advice about how he comes up with topics to write about and his practice of almost zilch website optimisation.
Webmaster Radio have a program hosted by shoemoney called Net Income. I have been listening to it on and off for around a year and have got some great advice and ideas from it. But this morning Shoey’s guest was none other than Problogger.com owner Darren Rowse. If you want to download the mp3, I will give you the link at the bottom of this topic.
Darren told shoey that these days he does very little seo and that the constant flow of topics and articles now being fed into his site, didn’t really warrant and special seo treatment. Google, crawled his site regularly everyday and he had more important things to do than spend hours worrying about and then implementing seo techniques that may or may not get him a space higher than he is now in the search results.
Good content and knowing what you visitors want is what he spends more time doing. Getting at least one quality backlink each week by personally approaching another website owner who has a topic similar to mine and then developing that relationship is far more important that any seo I caould do, he went on to say.
Darren, lead by shoey gave very specific details in how he has built a very comfortable income from blogging and his advice to new bloggers wanting to make a dollar or 2 on the net was invaluable.
